Romper Stompers

Does anyone else remember Romper Stompers from the 70s? They were first introduced on the children’s show, Romper Room and generated such demand among the toddlers of America that the Romper Room production company decided to market the toys.

They were yellow plastic cups that you stood on with plastic cord handles that you held while you walked around on the cups. Raised almost six inches off the ground, you could trample and stomp all over linoleum, tile or concrete so they could make their signature loud racket: clomp, clomp, clomp.

  2. I loved those things. Tried to find them for my daughter. I'm sure the people who lived below us weren't so thrilled with them however.

  3. We used to make our own out of empty jam cans and twine.

  4. I loved these things too! We also used coffee cans for our own homemade versions but you were the bomb if you had the REAL Romper Stompers. LOL Amazing how such simple toys kept us entertained, outside and moving, and from becoming couch potatoes. Heck you could do these without friends around when there was nobody home!
