Trapper John, M.D.

Trapper John, M.D. was a television medical drama about a lovable doctor who runs a teaching hospital in San Francisco, California. It ran on CBS from 1979-1986.

The show focused on Dr. Trapper John McIntyre, the Chief of Surgery at San Francisco Memorial Hospital. Trapper showed tremendous compassion towards his patients, often violating "established hospital procedures." Trapper's partner was an aspiring young professional named Dr. George Alonzo "Gonzo" Gates. His childish, irresponsible behavior, and love of life reflected elements of Trapper's younger days.

  1. I loved this show! My niece's pediatrician was at Hollywood Presbyterian hospital where they shot the outside scenes. I didn't know that until I saw the Titanic with Gonzo standing in front of it. I had the BIGGEST crush on him, I thought I was going to die! I think I was about eleven or 12 at the time
