These Tuff Stuff toys, made by Mattel, were released in the early 70s. The mixer worked by pulling a string and pushing the top yellow button to make the mixing blades rotate. The sewing machine also worked by simply pulling a string. Upon release, the foot would quickly move up and down to emulate the sewing.The shopping cart was perfect for fitting a dolly in the front and for placing the Tuff Stuff food in the basket. My sister and I loved to play store when we were little!

Thanks for your picture. I still have my cart that my daughter plays with now. I knew I was missing a piece of food, but couldn't remember which one. Thanks to your picture - I'm missing the apple! My food colors are all different too.

ReplyDeleteThese were so much more durable than today's toy shopping carts. I would tie a string to the front of it and haul it around like a wagon, and it would carry everything in it! We made it look like a pioneer covered wagon at one point. I remember I used to have adventures going over the Interstate bridge taking my important items (like.... La Mutt) then running home pulling it behind me. Ah, the memories.
