The Andy Griffith Show was a television sitcom televised on CBS from 1960-1968.It portrays Andy Taylor, a widowed sheriff in a fictional small community of Mayberry, North Carolina. His life is complicated by an inept but well-meaning deputy, Barney Fife, a spinster aunt and housekeeper, Aunt Bee, and a young son, Opie. Local ne'er-do-wells, bumbling pals, and temperamental girlfriends further complicate his life. They include barber Floyd Lawson, service station attendants and cousins Gomer Pyle and Goober Pyle, local drunkard Otis Campbell, Barney's sweetheart Thelma Lou, and Andy's schoolteacher sweetheart Helen Crump.
