Magical Musical Thing
Mattel's Magical Musical Thing was released in 1978. A cross between a keyboard and an electric guitar, it had a soft plastic keypad where the "neck" of the "guitar" was. It came with a songbook to teach you how to play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star by number or color.

I had this toy!! I LOVED it so much! Wow! I remember asking for "a magical musical thing" for Christmas that year and my Great Aunt (bless her heart) gave me a beautiful ceramic music box. Luckily Santa understood what I truly desired!
ReplyDeleteI remember this! My friend had it!
ReplyDeleteMy mother just gave ours to goodwill yesterday! She still had it, I'm 39 years old! She'd kept it for grandkids. It truly was magical because the batteries haven't been changed for 10+ years, and still worked!
ReplyDeleteI got myself one of those Magical Music Things and my wife loves the way it hums
ReplyDeleteDo you happen to have the songbook too?
ReplyDeleteLooking for a copy of the Song Book for this toy. Does anyone have one? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteJust one correction to your description: "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" was the one song that was NOT in the songbook included with The Magical Musical Thing. Perhaps, it may have been added in later additions, but it is not present in mine, which I STILL own to this day at 39 years old! One of my favorite songs of all time is in that songbook: "Oh Dear, What Can The Matter Be?"
