Emergency! was a television series, combining the medical drama and action-adventure genres, that ran from 1972 to 1978.
The show focused on paramedics John Gage and Roy DeSoto of the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Station 51 (actually LACoFD Sta 127 in Carson, CA), also featuring the other crew of the station and the hospital emergency room staff with whom the paramedics worked to save lives.
The crew of Engine 51 was portrayed by Chet Kelly, Marco Lopez, Mike Stoker, Captain Dick Hammer, later Captain Hank Stanley and Captain John VanOrden.
The Emergency Room staff of Rampart General Hospital included Dr. Kelly Brackett, Dr. Joe Early, Dr. Mike Morton, and head nurse Dixie McCall.
Loved this show!! They show reruns of Emergency in Colorado on a tv channel called RTV (Retro Television). They also show old episodes of The Rockford Files, The Hulk, A-Team, Night Gallery, ISPY, etc. etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't have it, request it from your tv provider!!
I watched this show as a kid I was between the ages of 5 and 11. I will always remember the tones before the call to the station came in plus the calls themselves either the individual units or the whole station. If you got the "station 51" call you new it was going to be a big accident. Plus if the call included other stations you knew it was gonna be a huge pile up on the freeway. Every episode they had to administer an IV with D5W or Ringer's Lactate. How that stayed in my brain I will never know that was more that 30 years ago
ReplyDeletethis was my favorite show as a little kid... I would run around the house w/ my fire hat pretending to be Johnny Gage
