Mattel Baseball Handheld Game

Mattel Baseball Handheld Game was released in 1979. It featured...

  • 1- or 2-player option
  • a score key that gave inning, outs, balls, strikes and score;
  • computer-controlled defense;
  • 2 play speeds;
  • unique sounds for runs scored, outs, base hits, strikes and game end.

  1. I loved this game; got it as a fifth grader and played it endlessly. The "special effects" when you hit a home run were one of the most joyous things to see and hear for this 11-year-old.

  2. I remember that too. My friends had one.

  3. Hahaha I loved this game. I had the football one also.

  4. I can't tell you how many hundreds of hours I spent playing this game. It kept me occupied on every road trip my family took. I also had the basketball one. I think, 30 years later, my parents still have that basketball game at their house.

  5. Man, do I remember these and the many other cool things at the Ft. Hood TX Four Seasons store. I can't recall if I had the baseball game but I had a football one which had white plastic. I believe 1 player - the green was 2 player. Simpler times, at least in regards to video games.:)
