The Beverly Hillbillies was a sitcom that ran from 1962-1971. The series was about a hillbilly family transplanted to Beverly Hills, California after finding oil on their land.
The Hillbillies themselves were the widowed patriarch
Jed "J.D." Clampett; his ornery mother-in-law,
Daisy May "Granny" Moses; his curvaceous, tom-boy daughter
Elly May Clampett; and
Jethro, the brawny, half-witted son of his cousin
Pearl Bodine. Pearl appeared in several episodes during the first season, as did Jethro's twin sister
Jethrine.
Supporting characters included
Milburn Drysdale, Jed's greedy, unscrupulous banker and his ostentacious wife
Margaret Drysdale; and
"Miss" Jane Hathaway, Drysdale's scholarly, "plain-Jane" secretary, who pined for the clueless Jethro.
