Sit 'n Spin

Sit 'n Spin is a famous toy of the 1970s and 1980s. It came in a multitude of visual designs however all were multicolored (using some or all of the primary colors red, green, yellow, blue). It features a large circular two-part plastic base. One part is in contact with the ground, and is connected to a smaller concentric plastic disk above it. The other part of the base, another concentric circle, is free to spin about the axis. A child sits on this part of the base, cross-legged and straddling the pole, and turns the disk, spinning the child in the other direction.

All in the Family

All in the Family was a sitcom that was originally broadcast on the CBS television network from 1971-1979.

The show's main characters included...

Archie Bunker, frequently called a "lovable bigot," an assertively prejudiced blue-collar worker;

Edith Bunker, Archie's wife, a sweet, understanding, if somewhat naive woman. She usually defers to her husband, but on the rare occasions when she takes a stand, she proves to be one of the wisest characters.

Gloria Bunker Stivic, the Bunkers' college-age daughter, married to Michael Stivic. Gloria frequently attempts to mediate Archie and Michael's arguments.

Michael Stivic, Gloria's Polish-American hippie husband who is part of the counterculture of the 1960s. He constantly spars with Archie and is in many ways as stubborn as Archie, even though his moral views are generally presented as being more ethical and his logic somewhat more sound than Archie's.

Help!... It's the Hair Bear Bunch!

Help!... It's the Hair Bear Bunch! is a Saturday morning cartoon, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1971 for CBS.

Trying to stop them are the constantly aggravated head zoo director, Mr. Eustace P. Peevly, and his hopelessly inadequate assistant Lionel J. Botch. Other residents of the Wonderland Zoo include Bananas the Gorilla, Furface the Lion, Fumbo the Elephant, Slicks the Fox, Hippi the Hippo, Beaks the Pelican, Arnie and Gloria the Gorillas, and Pipsqueak the Mouse.

Romper Stompers

Does anyone else remember Romper Stompers from the 70s? They were first introduced on the children’s show, Romper Room and generated such demand among the toddlers of America that the Romper Room production company decided to market the toys.

They were yellow plastic cups that you stood on with plastic cord handles that you held while you walked around on the cups. Raised almost six inches off the ground, you could trample and stomp all over linoleum, tile or concrete so they could make their signature loud racket: clomp, clomp, clomp.
